Dusk
Screeching in the reeds
Swamp-hens get territorial
Summer wetland
One continent, two springs
Yellow kapoks of Kimberley
Golden wattles of Canberra
Last walk at Barren Grounds
I tread lightly upon the sunlit path
My weary feet
kissed by the morning drew
Misty mountain road
I drove through pockets of invisibility
Where the fog was thickest
Only to glimpse on bloated roos glittering frost
Budding flowers in the late autumn
Snowflakes from last winter
Perched on moonlit boughs
Early arrival?
Emerging blossums from the far north
Being seen
First fog of autumn
In a quiet corner
A rose blooms
Harbinger of spring
Pacific koels from the far north
Landed on my porch
Spring knocks the door
Dusk
Into the fading light the intermittent shrieking of a blackbird dissolves
Above the gnarly gumtree a full moon slowly arises
Pilotbird
Chorus of lyrebirds echoed across mossy woods
Beneath sunlit tree ferns
A rusty bird sang a tune of a distant time
Swamp Banksia
Wrinkled trunk sprinkled by the mossy light
That ancient giant snap frozen in mud and time
Autumn colour by the street
Brushstrokes of autumn rains
Set clouds of summer leaves ablaze
Trapped ants
Swollen bellied ants
Trapped in my rice cooker
Food or freedom?
Light snow 小雪
Heavy clouds over the southern land
Might there be light snow?
In the far north
Two worlds of whiteness
Dream of snowfalls in the far north
Awakening next morning
Burgeoning pear blossoms in the far south
Winter solstice
A dream of frozen stars that melted in shoreless seas of winter night
Crystallized again on boundless earth
As a bridal gown of morning frost
Frosty Canberra morning
Fog enshrined winter
Shivering on a street lamp
Shadow of a white cockatoo
Beautiful firetail
Flickering flame swept across the grassy sea
That cool dude wearing sunnies
Sent bleak winter heath in glee
Min min light
Min min lights from the deep sky
Eye beams of immortals
peeking into the earthly land
Parting ways
When cherry blossoms fell like snow flakes of the last winter
We stood in the gentle wind
Of two distant hemispheres
Fleeting life
Withering wisteria
Did I miss
The coming spring
Dusk
In the last beam of daylight I heard
Chatters of little blue wrens
Barren Grounds
Misty heathland touched by morning rays
Boy’s fresh haircut
Barren Grounds
Whoops poops
On the wooden decking of my balcony
I stumbled upon droppings of red and purple
In a distant fruiting tree
A currawong laughed and flew away
Blood-stained labcoat
Blood-stained labcoat
Cherry blossoms sliced by glassy wind
Fallen onto winter snow
