Magnificent tree frog (Pelodryas splendida) @ WA, Wyndham, The Grotto; This Kimberley endemic is a frog version of the incredible hulk, known for its gorgeous green dress decorated by golden 'stars' and a bulbous poison gland on the top of its head. Indeed splendid!
Magnificent tree frog (Pelodryas splendida) @ WA, Wyndham, The Grotto
Chameleon dragon (Chelosania brunnea) @ WA, Wyndham, The Grotto; Don't be disappointed by its drab appearance, this rarely seen agamid lizard is a highly skilled tree climber. Just like a chameleon, it can move gracefully among branches in a slow motion mode. A fun fact is that the chameleon dragon is the closest living relative of the ecological divergent Moloch, the thorny devil of Australian deserts. They diverged around 20 million years ago and occupy distinct ecological niches.

Sandstone pie-dish beetle (Pterohelaeus sp.) @ WA, Kununurra, Mirima NP; This undescribed pie-dish beetle is a sandstone specialist. Once disturbed, it tucked its legs under the shield of body flange, which was tightly fitted against the rock surface. Like other saxicolous species of the genus, it can stridulate by scratching hind legs against the underside of elytral flange to warn the predators that 'I'm stinky and inedible'!
